Ebay Leaves Commission Junction

The long relationship between Ebay and its affiliate partner Commission Junction has come to an end. Ebay is going to be using its own in house set up for Ebay affiliates. This leaves a lot of people scratching their heads I’m sure. Ebay of course says that the user experience will be better and that its tracking will even be more detailed. this could be a good thing.

What about everyone that has set up hundreds of Ebay sites with tracking through CJ? We can only wait and see how easy the transfer will be go and if there will be lots of frustration, or a smooth transaction.

Its been 6 long years of a relationship between CJ and Ebay. The new system will go into effect on April 1st. Ebay has said that it will allow for people to migrate over until May 1st from CJ.

Craigslist Cleared of Discrimination Claims

Some people decided to get together and sue Craigslist for discriminatory ads. Looks as if the lawsuit didn’t hold to well. Its rather ridiculous that people are going to sue a free service that can be used by anyone. The posts were not even made by anyone from Craigslist.

Chief Judge Frank Easterbrook , likened Craigslist to a courier service like FedEx or UPS. Obviously companies like this cant control what letters are and aren’t sent through them, thus Craigslist is the same way. its just a free site for all to use to advertise, and with that they were cleared of fault.

Ebay Ads Are Everywhere

I think its safe to say that the majority of us that spend enough time online have found that Ebay will advertise for anything and everything on Yahoo and Google. I recently found that Target is doing the same thing.

While both Google and Yahoo would tell you that its all about the user experience and the relevancy of ads showing for a particular search, maybe someone can tell me how relevant Ebay Motors is to a search for “baseball cards” which I found the other day. I brought this up to Yahoo search team and they said they would look into it.

I really don’t think the advertising for irrelevant keywords by the large companies like Ebay will stop, and its no wonder its that much harder for the small business to compete with such online giants.
