The Game Developers Conference saw a more refined version of Lucas Arts and Day 1 studios brain child, “Fracture” this past Tuesday. Since it’s first viewing at E3 some may notice a few changes have taken place. The character model has changed to a more beefy looking protagonist as well as some cosmetic upgrades to the environmental textures. The main characters name has also been changed to Jet Brody (more beefy) instead of the former Mason Briggs (not as beefy).

The game itself is a 3rd person Sci-Fi shooter in which players can use their weaponry to both create and destroy the environment around them. Some of the vast arsenal consist of four grenade types: a tectonic grenade which raises the terrain, a subsonic grenade which lowers the terrain, a spike grenade which creates a molten lava spike to jut up out of the ground, and a vortex grenade which creates a vortex of dirt and debris in the general area and then explodes. Game play itself consists of a face paced action shooter as well as puzzles thrown in here and there to more incorporate the use of these terrain altering weapons. The projected release date of this game is some time this summer. Check out screen shots and actual game play videos here.
