The Format War Is Over!

February
For those of you still struggling with what the outcome is going to be with the HD DVD and Blu-ray format war, it’s time to come out of your protective hiding places and embrace the winner. Upon a February 19 press conference, Atsutoshi Nishida, President and CEO of Toshiba, has announced that Toshiba will no longer develop or manufacture HD DVD players and recorders. (If you’re keeping score at home that’s 1 for Blu-ray and 0 for those HD DVD suckers) Toshiba will be gradually reducing the shipments of it’s HD hardware, with a complete stoppage by late March. (suckers)
Just like another nail in the coffin, Wal-Mart announced that it too will be phasing its sale of HD DVDs. Wal-mart has now joined the bandwagon of HD haters consisting of Best Buy, Netflix, Target, and Blockbuster. Now with support from such studios as Warner Bros., Sony Pictures, Paramount, HBO, MGM, Lionsgate, and Disney Blu-ray can now, without a doubt, take over the world. Don’t think that Microsoft is scared, they claim that it’s the games that fuel the flame of the 360. I know what you’re saying, “I have a Xbox 360 with an external HD DVD player, what the hell am I going to do?” my answer to you is, “You’ll quit your crying and wait till May when a Blu-ray player will be available for that game playing machine of yours!”
